Use the random book generator
This random book generator draws one of twenty-four classics. Choose a genre and mark books you have read to narrow the pool. Pick again for a new draw. Each book left in the pool has the same chance, so a title can repeat.
Choose a theme mode before checking a theme. Confirmed absent requires a full absence check and returns no matches with the current notes. Avoid known notes removes listed matches only. Unlisted themes may still appear; the draw is not a promise of safety.
How the random book generator chooses
The browser draws a random number and maps it to a book in the pool. It rejects numbers that would favor one book. A draw can repeat, like a paper slip put back in a bag. Mark a title already read to remove it from later draws.
Each record links to a free eBook. Page counts and print or audio editions are unknown, so length and format choices are disabled. Check a library catalogue if you need a different edition.
Confirmed absent keeps any book without a full absence check out of the draw. None has that check, so any checked theme gives no matches. Avoid known notes removes books whose notes name the theme. Unlisted themes may still appear. The tool keeps your chosen mode and themes until you change or reset them.
Full catalogue and manual selection
The cards below are the same records used by the tool. They remain readable without scripts. Genre, mood and pace labels express an editorial reading judgment. For a screen-free draw, cross out excluded titles first. Write each remaining ID on an equal-size slip, fold the slips alike and mix them. Draw one. For a preference result, use the point rule printed on the sheet.
Check reasons and cautions before choosing a full book. If the remaining pool is empty, change an explicit filter; do not put excluded records back without deciding to do so.
FAQ
Why are these all older books?
Version 1.0 uses editions that can be checked openly and cited with stable records. That makes its limited scope clear. It does not rank these titles above modern books or claim they represent all readers. The genres and individual trade-offs help you judge whether this particular pool is worth using.
What happens to my choices?
Choices stay in the open page. There is no account, saved profile or indexable result URL. Reloading may clear the form, so print or note a result you want to keep. Reset removes the current filters and read marks. A content boundary stays firm until you change it yourself.
