The spine in seven compartments over double bands. Includes six sections each paginated by the leaf and with separate title pages inprinted Parisiis 1542. The title page of Primus Physicorum is hand-colored, illustrations. Cracking and tears to the spine, newer endpapers pasted over the old, the front endpaper with a hole in the center and the edge ragged. Brighton [1859]. (oblong 4to stiff paper covers) [1], 34pp. Very good. 35 stiff sheets stapled together and bound with a plain paper wrapper. The first sheet is the key to Moon's German Alphabet. The following 34 pages is the story of the birth of Christ taken from Luke, Chapter 1 in the Moon Alphabet, entitled "Geburt Christi". Moon invented his system of embossed reading in 1845. It was considered by many to be easier to learn than the Braille system. This is an early example of Moon's type. Book about. Text in German Language & Moon alphabet. Presentation inscription dated 1868 on the front endpaper of each volume, the covers are worn at the corners and ends of the spine, there is some spotting to the plates and a few pages, some dampstaining to the covers. London: Peter Jackson [circa 1850s]. (4to) 96, 72, 52, 68pp. Very good, no dust jacket. Burgundy cloth over leather spine and corners. Patterned endpapers, 128 engravings (including the 4 vignette title pages). Some of the plates have spotting and two have a stain on the inside corner (not affecting the image), but generally the plates are clean, and the leather is a bit rubbed. Contributors include G.N. Rome: Privately Printed 1927, a numbered copy form a limited edition of 100. (Folio) Very good. A folio book bound in vellum with color illustration of Christ with lamb stamped on the front panel and raised bands on the spine. Signed by the artist. 9 mounted woodcut plates each signed in pencil with the artist's monogram and date. The Psalm is printed in large text with exquisite decorative floral borders. The book is smoke-stained around the margins of the front cover, the spine, 3" along the back cover at the spine, and the page edges with some penetration into the page margins, also the boards are splayed. . Edinburgh: J. Ruthven and Sons 1798. (Hardcover set) Very good. xxxii, 189, 391pp. Complete in two volumes. 3 / 4 calf with marbled boards and red leather spine labels. Engraved portrait frontispiece, errata leaf at the end of each volume. The half-title is not present in the first volume. The first volume contains a biography of the author and poems, the second is a volume of essays on various subjects. A well preserved set with only moderate wear to the hinges. Each volume has a bookplate with the monogram EBV under a baron's coronet (4 pearls. (Ideas, Judges--Scotland, Law, Poetry).

New York: St. Hubert Guild 1906, a numbered set from a limited edition of 1000. (Hardcover set) Fine. An exquisite set from the "Edition Immortal" bound in various colors of leather. This set is No.3 with an elaborate certificate signed by W.E. Wise. Each volume stamped in gilt and color after original designs of famous fine bindings (most with a descriptive page tipped in). Faux moire endpapers, top edges gilt, ribbon page markers, illustrated with photogravures on Japan Vellum, including hand-painted reproductions of famous historical paintings and rare engravings. Each volume has a tastefully designed bookplate on the front inner board, and the only flaw on the set being that the spines of 11 volumes are lightly faded (some to a pale green, some to a light tan). Because the volumes are bound in different colors, this is not an offensive fault. Photos available on request. (Sets, History, Sets).

Marbled endpapers, 8 of the 9 folding maps and illustrations (lacks Plate 3 - Plan of the Copper Mine River) the title page has been expertly repaired and the maps are sound with some reinforcing on the folds. Boston: L. Prang & Co. 1890. (4to) Very good in near fine dust jacket. Bound in rose cloth and yellow india silk with a stunning design in gilt and colors, and in a near fine rose cloth covered dust jacket. Textured gilt patterned endpapers, all edges gilt, printed one-side on heavy coated stock (excepting a few preliminary pages), 18 poems with artistic borders and 15 chromolithographs. The front inner hinge has been repaired, one tissueguard is wrinkled and has a corner tear, the bottom corner of the front cover has a small bump and the cloth dust jacket is unevenly faded. The book presents as near fine. Also included is the publisher's 4-page brochure for fine art books for the 1890-91 season. Illustrations by James Callowhill, Sidney Callowhill, Alois Lunzer & F. Aberdeen: Taylor & Henderson 1907. (Folio hardcover) Very good. 361pp. plus plates. A heavy tome bound in stamped burgundy cloth with gilt spine lettering. Portrait frontispiece, 3 photographic plates, 160 plates of line drawings by the author representing 312 species, color folding map, index. There is a crack at the joints between the first and second signatures at the front and back of the book, light wear at the top and bottom of the spine and the corners, a small snag near the centre of the back hinge, and the spine is lightly faded. New York: J.F. Tapley Co. 1923. (Limp leather) 329pp. Very good plus. Limp brown lizard calf with gilt emblem on the front cover. All edges gilt, moire endpapers, printed in brown type and illustrations embellished in gold. Calligraphic presentation inscription by Svetozar dated 1927. Includes the bifold "Information for the Reader" brochure. Illustrations by Malcolm Thurburn. (Ideas).

Philadelphia: Bioren and Madan 1796, 1st American from the second London edition corrected. (Hardcover set) Very good. 362, 400pp. Nicely bound in 3 / 4 calf. A rather tempting signature of Geo. Washington (with unintelligable last name), New York on the preface page -- not the founding father, but the signature is close. Some spotting to the spines, wear to the corners, a dampstain the the cloth of front panel of Vol. 1 with matching stain to the back panel of Vol.2, the second volume has staining to the edges of the last 100 pages with spotting to the final 4 leaves of text.
