Biblio Biblio - About Us Biblio News & Announcements Promotions

Help us Celebrate our 20th Anniversary!

Did you know that it has been 20 years since we founded BIBLIO? This month marks our two-decade anniversary of being in the book business!

From the beginning, our mission was to give antiquarian and used bookstores the tools to survive and grow in an increasingly digital world. Since 2003, BIBLIO has become the largest independent marketplace for used, rare, and out-of-print books, and we are still offering booksellers a global reach to market and sell the unique items they preserve.

BIBLIO gained around 200 booksellers in our first year, and now currently offers over 100 million used and rare books for sale, listed by more than 7,500 bookstores around the globe.

Wow! A lot has changed since 2003.

Over these 20 years, we have sponsored some of the most important fairs of the rare book trade. We have worked closely with reputable bookseller associations such as the ABAA, ABA (British and American), ILAB, and many others around the world. These partnerships help to keep our brand visible, but more importantly, they connect us to opportunities for networking with the global bookseller community.

BIBLIO has facilitated the sales of some of the most important books in the collecting world, which is a responsibility we take very seriously. We have worked to try to grow a new generation of bibliophiles and book collectors and to share the love of books as we look ahead to the future.

We will continue to advocate for a healthy business environment for our team, our customers, and our independent booksellers. We respect the intrinsic value of rare books and are proud to connect them with collectors and book lovers from all over the world. With that in mind, we are especially excited about our next business venture, the launch of BIBLIO.es – our first Spanish-language site.

One of the most important lessons we have learned after all these years is that printing has not lost its magic. Books have endured for centuries as a crucial cultural asset, and despite forecasts to the contrary, physical books are still the preferred reading format for most dedicated readers. Buying used books is a great way to reduce your environmental footprint, save money, and support small local businesses.

Finally, antiquarian bookshops are essential to the book market as they preserve vital literary knowledge and expertise to share with future generations. We cannot wait to continue contributing to their success for another 20 years.

  • Wally here, of Eyes of the Owl BQQKS, one of the first 200 venders on Biblio. From the beginning Biblio offered me a global platform. My first Biblio sale was #25875 place on April 16th, 2004 to a customer in Australia. The book about Fiats sold for $35 and cost $40 to ship. As a trusting New Hampshire dealer since 1978, I shipped it anyway. My request for the additional postage went unanswered. That case is still listed as “pending.” What a memory. Happy anniversary Biblio!

    • Oh, goodness! What a story! If I could modify an order that old, I’d change it…but I fear it may be pending forever! Thanks for sticking with us, Wally!
