VA, a young adult series taking place in current time and focusing on Rose Hathaway, a dhampir (half human/half vampire) who finds her time stretched between training to be a guardian for her best friend, Lissa and navigating the ups and downs of first love, has found its leading cast members.

Preger Entertainment (Village of the Damned, The Day of the Triffids), the production company who bought the rights to Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy back in 2010, announced on their official Facebook page today that Zoey Deutch (Beautiful CreaturesRinger), Lucy Fry (Lightening Point) and Russian actor, Danila Kozlovsky (Gulf Stream Under the IcebergShpion) would be joining the film.

It’s not clear who is playing who, but just from the book descriptions it would seem that Deutch is set to play “Rose”, Fry “Lissa” and Kozlovsky “Dimitri”.

Dan Waters (Heathers) has penned the script and Mark Waters (Mean Girls) will be directing. (They’re brothers!)

VA fans, are you happy with these castings? What were your fan casts?

UPDATE: Having spoken to the producers - Deadline Hollywood now confirms the casting and that all parties involved are excited about the script and to begin filming this summer. Says Mark Waters,

“This is a dream project for us, since we have wanted to work together for so long. Richelle’s mythology and the world she creates is so real and her voice so clear. These kids have real life, modern day problems. And they drink blood.”
