Large 8vo, (vi), 633 pp. Color frontis., 6 full-page b&w plates, and numerous in-text illustrations. Half dark green morocco by Zaehnsdorf. Binding a little rubbed and worn at joints, shelf mark erased from foot of backstrip, small rubber shelf stamp on verso of title, bookplate on front paste-down. Very good.

§ First edition of this wide-ranging travelogue by Englishwoman Alice Frere (1842-1926), who, in her early twenties, spent two years travelling around the world in the company of her father, recently released from a civil service position in Bombay, and an Indo-Portuguese servant.
